Digital audio can also be switched on via Device Manager. You can get there as follows:
- On the desktop right-click the My Computer icon.
- Then select Properties.
- Now click on the Device Manager tab. One of the items in the list should be called "CDROM" or something similar (see the picture)
- Next click on the + sign next to the CDROM item. It will open up and you should see your CD-ROM drive (not sure exactly what it will be called)
- Right-click the CD-ROM drive for which you want to enable digital playback (e.g. in the picture above, you would right-click the one called 52X CD-ROM)
- Then select Properties
- In the Properties window click the tab called Properties. At the bottom there's a little tick-box that says Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device.
- Tick this box, click OK, and close everything, and digital playback should work.
